Policing content is one of the biggest challenges facing broadcasters and publishers says Digital Element’s VP of UK & Ireland Charlie Johnson, with one in four reportedly using a virtual private network (VPN) to access content. VPNs let users to mask which country they’re based in, allowing them to access geographically locked content that they shouldn’t be able to see. In this interview Johnson describes how progress has been made over the last few years, with research into VPN names having bought significant results, but why policing VPN use will remain a game of whack-a-mole.
