Systems that Try to Consolidate Data at Huge Scale Eventually Break, says IPONWEB’s Brian Golbere

Data breaches like Cambridge Analytica’s alleged exploitation of Facebook data are the result of companies trying to concentrate too much data in one place, presenting a target for malicious actors, says IPONWEB’s general manager of emerging technology Brian Golbere. Here Golbere explains why a lot of the current debate, reflected in discussion around GDPR and data breaches, is framing the problem wrong, and why the industry should focus more on the problems they’re trying to solve, rather than the tools they have to solve those problems. Filmed in San Sebastian at TV Rise 2018.
