ITV LogoITV is restructuring its digital division with Julian March coming in as the new director of online and up to 40 jobs are thought to at risk. March will replace Robin Pembrooke as managing director of ITV online and on demand.

The Guardian also reports that ITV staff were told on Thursday that ‘cost-cutting changes could put 40 jobs at risk in the 100-strong office’ and the the bulk of the jobs under threat are thought to be editorial positions. Staff are reported to have entered a four-week consultation period on the cuts.

Previously March worked as head of digital with Sky News, before becoming head of digital media for news, sport and weather at ITV. The Guardian says the restructuring will see the department divided into three different sections – online products, editorial and business planning – with a view to making ITV.com more flexible and adaptable when it comes to multichannel delivery.

Later this summer ITV is set to unveil its micropayments strategy for online programmes. The broadcaster plans to charge between 50p for single episodes of content that is older than 30 days, and between £1.99 and £4.99 for a full TV series.
