Ozone, the publisher sales house initially formed by an alliance of UK premium publishers, this morning announced a new partnership with publisher monetisation platform Content Ignite which will open up Ozone’s demand and monetisation technology to Content Ignite’s own publisher partners.
Since it was founded as The Ozone Project back in 2018 by The Guardian, News UK, The Telegraph, and Reach, Ozone has gradually expanded by bringing further established publishers on board, including Mail Metro Media and the Independent among others. The idea has been to strengthen its members’ overall ad offering by pooling inventory across publishers, and enabling publishers to buy using common technology and standardised data.
Now, with this new partnership, Ozone is opening up its monetisation technology to a much wider range of specialist and independent media companies. Content Ignite’s publisher monetisation tools, centred on its Fusion ad tech platform, are used by more than 400 publishers including The Observer, Global, Haymarket, The Weather Channel, and PinkNews. Content Ignite’s publishers will now have access to Ozone’s prebid server capability, which the two say will fuel revenue uplift via Ozone’s proprietary technology.
Danny Spears, Ozone’s chief technology officer, said his company believes it is strategically important for publishers of all sizes to have access to the tech opportunities which larger publishers are able to use. “That’s why we’re very excited about this partnership on two levels; firstly, the complementary nature of our capabilities and customer segments, and secondly the extent to which this will drive significant business value for specialist publishers who play a very important role in the wider ecosystem,” he said.
