Brett Aumuller has been appointed managing director of Sky Media, following the surprise departure of Tim Pearson in September 2021.
Aumuller makes the move from Sky streaming service NOW, where he currently serves as deputy managing director. He will join the advertising partnership and distribution leadership team in the coming months, initially splitting his time between roles from May before taking his new position full-time in July.
Aumuller first joined the company in 2001 as financial controller at Sky Interactive, eventually becoming chief financial officer at Sky Italia. Here he oversaw the platform’s transition from a direct-to-home service into its current multi-platform, digital and OTT offering.
His predecessor at Sky Media, Tim Pearson, resigned after six months in the role. He had previously served as chief executive of media agency OMD Group and has maintained his silence regarding his sudden exit.
Aumuller inherits an evolving ad sales business at Sky Media, having recently adopted CFlight for tracking unified audience metrics and launched branded smart TV system Sky Glass last year.
Sky chief business officer Patrick Behar said Aumuller’s 20-plus years at Sky position him to lead the division in the UK as well as in driving pan-European growth with agencies. “During his two years with NOW, he has been key to its growth and transformation,” he added. “His successes at Sky mean he already has a deep understanding of our market and how we work, and fully embodies the values that make Sky the best place to be.”
