Ex-ICO Tech Lead Simon McDougall Chief Compliance Officer New Role at ZoomInfo

Market intelligence platform ZoomInfo today announced it has hired Simon McDougall as its first chief compliance officer, part of a broader move in which the US company is expanding its London operations.

McDougall will be a familiar face to many from his time as deputy commissioner and executive director of tech policy and innovation at the UK’s data regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). McDougall led the ICO’ s investigation of digital advertising, and took the lead on communicating the ICO’s interpretation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to the industry.

In this new role, McDougall will help ensure ZoomInfo’s practices are compliant with UK and European data laws as the company expands out of its home market, providing transparency into its own collection and use of professional contact data. He will also help advise ZoomInfo’s clients on how to ensure their own use of data is compliant with various data laws.

“ZoomInfo is a leader in data privacy, compliance, and security. Transparency and control are at the core of our data operations,” said McDougall. “As ZoomInfo continues to expand in the U.K. and in Europe, we’ll help customers navigate complex data rules and regulations, so they can act responsibly in growing their businesses.”

ZoomInfo says it plans to relocate some executive roles to London this year as part of the expansion, and will be actively hiring for UK roles to expand sales and service capabilities locally and regionally.
