Five Reasons Why Regulators Won’t Break Up Big Tech According to Arete’s Richard Kramer

Over the last year there’s been a near constant stream of stories about regulators in the US and the EU opening investigations into the various tech giants, with the investigations in some cases focused specifically on their domination of digital advertising. But we’re unlikely to see the likes of Google and Facebook actually get broken up says Richard Kramer, managing director at Arete Research, as the US government in particular gets substantial benefits from things remaining as they are. In this presentation at this year’s NVF Roadmap in London, Kramer gives his thought on the year ahead in advertising, including why Google might spin out its publisher network business, and why we’ll see continued ad tech consolidation (but with little chance of this consolidation actually solving any problems).
