Premium Content is Essential for AVOD to Compete with SVOD

Tim Cross 24 October, 2019

Ad-supported video on-demand (AVOD) services are becoming more popular as more and more subscription-supported (SVOD) products come to market. But while consumers are drawn to AVOD as a way to keep their overall spending on streaming services down, it’s essential that these AVOD products are also able to compete in terms of content with the SVOD players says Tariq Mahmoud, head of international sales at Roku. In this interview, Mahmoud also discusses the growth of hybrid monetisation models, and how buyers can avoid problems around fraud and brand safety in over-the-top (OTT) environments. Filmed at New Video Frontiers 2019 in London.
