2018 Cannes Lions Preview: the Video & TV Highlights

Tim Cross 17 June, 2018

The Cannes Lions 2018 festival kicks off today, returning this year with something of a revamped format after both Publicis and WPP made some very public large complaints over the past year around the cost and inefficiency of the event. The festival responded by making some changes accordingly, so this year’s festival both shorter and cheaper. Now all we have to do is hope that strikes by the French air traffic controllers and the French train drivers won’t scupper proceedings too much.

Coverage

As an official partner of the event, VAN will be covering the major announcements this week and we’ll also be filming some video interviews with various industry luminaries.

TV Rise Meet-Up

VAN is holding a TV Rise meet-up in partnership with IPONWEB on Wednesday evening for those if you who attended our event back in April, so if you’re coming to Cannes, do come along. Attendance is limited to past attendees so get in touch (and check your inbox!) if you’d like to attend.

Panel:  The Global Evolution of TV Planning, Buying, Measurement and Software

VAN editor Vincent Flood will be moderating a panel hosted with Adobe at 5.15pm on Monday evening (invite-only). The panel will look at the state of TV inventory, planning and buying as it relates to technology and software, and the many different factors affecting global marketplaces.

  • Vincent Flood, Editor, Video Ad News – Moderator
  • Graeme Hutcheson, Director of Advanced Advertising at Sky
  • Matthew Jacobs, Senior Director, Global Media Partnerships at Amplifi Global
  • Toni Petra, EVP Watch, Nielsen
  • Todd Gordon, Director, Programmatic TV, Adobe

Captify Party

VAN Editor Vincent Flood will doing a guest DJ spot for a couple of hours at Captify’s spectacular annual party at the Captify villa in the Cannes foothills. Unfortunately the party is now over-subscribed.

Captify don’t mess about…
