The latest figures from Comscore’s Video Metrix shows online video consumption in Germany is continuing to grow steadily. In March 2012 a total of 46.9 million people in Europe’s largest market watched a video online, representing an increase of 2.3 percent over the previous year. However, the major growth has been in the amount of time spent viewing online video, with the average time per visitor increasing by 33.7 percent to just under 27 hours over the same 12 month period.

Google leads the market, driven almost completely by YouTube, with 46.9million unique viewers, followed by ProSiebenSat.1 (14 million) and United-Internet (9.8 million). Within YouTube, the gaming industry dominates the channels, Bigpoint came out on top with 5.6 million viewers, followed by Machinima (4.2 million) and Media Power Networks (3.2 million).
